1st Assistant Chief
In 1981, when I started with the Tooele City Volunteer Fire Department, I had no idea what I was really getting into. All I knew was that my Father, George Gillette had been an Asst. Chief and I had many great memories of firemen and fire house activities from my childhood. Over the years I have come to know that these firemen are some of the best men that I will meet in my life.
Now that I have become a Chief, I can now use the years of training to help the safety of firefighters, as well as the safety of the citizens of Tooele City. The Tooele City Fire Department has the knowledge and experience to continue sending our firefighters back home after an incident. We take great pride in the 50 active firefighters with their wives and children, senior firefighters and their families.
As well as the extensive training that the firefighters themselves do, this department has developed an ever growing program for fire safety within the community. The October, Fire safety program has grown each year. Families come to the fire station and learn about getting our of a house when it's on fire, kids get lifted up in a rescue harness, they can inspect the fire trucks and receive plastic fire hats, coloring books, stickers, etc. to remind them about being fire safe.
I could go on and on about the pride I have in this fire department. The residents of the Tooele City areas should never have any doubt about the capabilities of the dedicated members of this fire department.
Protect, Serve and Return home unharmed for another day.
